Job Description:Job Summary: The University of St. Thomas, Department of Human Resources, seeks an HR Partner.Founded in 1885, the University of St. Thomas is a Catholic, independent, liberal arts, archdiocesan university that emphasizes values-centered, career-oriented education. Its mission is: inspired by Catholic intellectual tradition, the University of St. Thomas educates students to be morally responsible leaders who think critically, act wisely, and work skillfully to advance the common good.The University seeks a talented and well-credentialed HR professional to provide consultative services for employees and managers in designated academic and administrative units on human resources strategies. These include labor relations and employee relations, conflict resolution, performance management, staffing and recruitment, compensation and benefits, strategic planning, organization development, and policy. The incumbent collaborates with university managers to diagnose organizational challenges and propose effective solutions with an eye toward Best Practices. This position works closely with the Associate Vice President for Human Resources on labor relations issues, including assisting with the administration of three labor agreements through informal communication, the grievance process, arbitration hearing, and contract negotiations.Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and minimum five years of professional level experience in a multi-discipline Human Resources Management environment including experience in the following areas: labor relations, staffing, employee relations, compensation administration, conflict resolution, and organizational development. PHR or SPHR certification required. Master's degree and prior higher education experience highly preferred.The successful candidate must be able to support the university's mission, communicate effectively with faculty and staff at all levels, and work in a fast-paced and diverse environment. He or she also must possess the following qualities and skills: excellent problem solving and analytical skills, ability to interpret and apply university policies and relevant state and federal employment and labor laws, a high degree of integrity, strong interpersonal and communication skills (writing, oral and listening), excellent customer service skills, and demonstrated flexibility and commitment to building and sustaining strong business relationships.The University of St. Thomas offers a professionally challenging, supportive work environment and an excellent benefit package including tuition remission.
